Much like Midtown Shoes, Birkenstock is a family owned and operated business, and we proudly carry more than 20 styles of their footwear.
Granted, Birkenstock predates us by more than just a few years. The company started in 1774 when Johann Adam Birkenstock registered as a shoemaker in a small village in Germany. The time-honored German shoe making tradition practiced by its founder remains prevalent in their products. In fact, Birkenstock shoes and boots are still made in Europe, and footbeds and sandals continue to be made in Germany.
Unbeknownst to most, Birkenstock is the originator of the moldable footbed. Their design contours to the foot while walking and is made of 100% renewable cork—supporting the wearer and the environment. Additional features include a deep heel cup for natural cushioning, a raised toe bar which aids the natural gripping motion of your foot, and a spacious toe box to promote circulation.
Many styles come in narrow and regular widths to ensure that everyone can enjoy the renowned Birkenstock comfort and support.
